16 Irresistible Christmas Cookies to Make

Christmas cookies are one of the best things about Christmas. Whether you are in the kitchen baking them or just eating them, you can’t have Christmas without Christmas cookies.

This is a Christmas tradition that I continue with every year and it’s a great tradition to include your kids in. My son loves to help bake and he enjoyed participating this year.

Here is a list of 18 irresistible Christmas cookies that I have made over the years that have been very well liked. I have a few Christmas cookies that I make every year and I switch out a few every year, making some new ones.

1. Italian Anise Cookies

Italian anise cookies is an Italian favorite and one of the cookies that I make every year. With the anise flavor in the cookie and icing, topped off with nonpareils, it’s a very popular Christmas cookie.

2. White Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

With a new twist on snickerdoodles, white chocolate chip pumpkin snickerdoodles has become a favorite in my household. I started making this one a few years ago and it became a new favorite of my husband’s, so now I make this one every year.

3. Mint Chocolate Cookies

Made with Andes mints, these mint chocolate cookies gives you the taste of mint chocolate chip ice cream. What’s not to love about mint chocolate chip ice cream. A great hit for Christmas!

Tip #1 – Due to this cookie having a strong mint flavor, you may want to be careful where you place this cookie on your cookie trays as the mint flavor can pass on to the other cookies.

4. Sugar Christmas Cookies with Buttercream Frosting

The traditional cut-out sugar Christmas cookies are always a favorite. But add buttercream frosting with red and green food coloring for Christmas makes them even better.

You can’t forget about the all-American and classic chocolate chip cookies.

6. Holly Crackles

Holly crackles is a festive Christmas treat that is a perfect activity for your kids to do. Made with cornflakes, green food coloring, and red-hot cinnamon candies made into wreath-shaped cookies.

7. Peanut Butter Blossoms

Peanut butter blossoms are the classic and crowd favorite peanut butter cookies with a Hershey kiss on top. Being a popular cookie, this is another one I continue to make every year.

8. Ooey Gooey Rocky Road Cookies

Ooey gooey rocky road cookies are flourless chocolate cookies mixed with almonds and chocolate chips, topped off with marshmallows, which has become a favorite of mine.

9. Caramel Apple Pie Cookies

Why not make the all-American apple pie into a cookie. I made these caramel apple pie cookies for the first time last year and they became instant popularity, tasting just like a slice of apple pie.

10. Crispy Balls

Crispy balls consists of a marshmallow dipped in caramel and rice krispies. The first time I made this years ago for Christmas, it was an instant hit, so I’ve continues to make this every year since. 

It’s like eating a caramel rice krispy treat. It’s definitely a popular one for the kids. They will love it!

Pepper cookies is another chocolate Italian cookie that is a favorite Christmas cookie.

12. White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookies

An all-time favorite, the white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie is a perfect holiday cookie to add to those cookie trays and one that I make every year.

Tip #2 – A little secret to making this cookie the most delicious white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie is almond extract.

The amaretti cookies is an Italian cookie and a new one that I made for the first time this year but it was a delicious one.

14. Black Forest Cookies

These chocolate cherry cookies, also known as black forest cookies, are a perfect Christmas cookie and most definitely a hit.

15. Gingerbread Men

This classic Christmas cookie, Gingerbread Men, is a must to add to those cookie trays. It’s a perfect Christmas cookie that your kids will love help making those cut-outs. And everyone will love them!

This shortbread cookie that’s topped with holiday sprinkles makes a great Christmas cookie. Funfetti shortbread bites is a tiny bite-sized treat that everyone will love.

There are so many more Christmas cookies that I’m sure you can find to try out (I know I find new ones to try every year), but these are 16 irresistible Christmas cookies that I have made over the years that have been absolute hits and that I definitely recommend giving a try.
